Chalmers is proud to collaborate with West Pride, the festival to be held 28th May – 1st June 2014.
The purpose of West Pride is to illuminate HBT issues and the situations of HBT people.
Chalmers is joining in to demonstrate that we regard transparency, creativity and multiplicity as being essential values.
Johanna Andersson and Bruno Rudström work with gender equality, equal opportunity and discrimination issues for both staff and students at Chalmers. Together with colleagues from the University of Gothenburg they have drawn up a program on May 30 with lectures and panel talks at Artisten. The program will be held in Swedish, read more about it below.

Research with influence
On Friday the 30th of May, Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg will put on lectures and panel talks on HBT issues at Artisten in Göteborg. Using the slogan “Research with influence”, several areas of current research will be presented. Themes include the use of hen, a gender neutral pronoun, in scientific texts and practice, types of living and life projects, the nerd in the heterosexual matrix, young men on the subject of gender and sexuality in the new Sweden and desire between women in literary fiction.

The Rainbow Parade 1st June
Chalmers will participate in this year’s Rainbow Parade to demonstrate our conviction that all people are equal. We encourage staff and students to participate in the parade, and especially beneath the Chalmers flag. Chalmers president and CEO Karin Markides will be participating in the parade.
The parade starts at 1 p.m. with speeches made by a number of stalwart supporters of HBT concerns, and with then departs from Götaplatsen at 2 p.m.

West Pride is a free culture festival that provides safe meeting places for HBT people and raises norm criteria and the life situations of HBT people by means of art and culture. The West pride 2014 slogan is ”En konstig festival” (”konstig ”being a play on the words ”konstig” (strange/queer) and ”konst” (art)) and takes place in Göteborg from the 28th of May until the 1st of June 2014.
